3 Common Types Of TV Wall Brackets

Which TV Bracket Should I choose?

In order to choose the right TV wall bracket, it all depends on your living space. For example, if you are planning to have your TV mounted in your bedroom, you may need it to be mounted in a position where you can watch it from a comfortable position, whether it is from your bed or desk. Bedrooms that are smaller and have a narrow space would benefit from a tilt/swivel TV bracket, as this would allow you to adjust the TV for an appropriate viewing position. A fixed TV bracket can also be a good option, as one of these can be an appropriate choice to from a small to a larger room, although you will need to consider the fact that when the TV is mounted on a fixed bracket, you will not be able to fully adjust the TV to any other viewing position, such as tilt or swivel mounts would be able to. Therefore, deciding on an appropriate place to mount a TV using a fixed bracket is very important.

TV Brackets

Fixed Bracket

A fixed bracket is the most commonly used TV bracket; nearly every homeowner has their TV’s mounted on one of these. They are available in different sizes for every TV you can find on the market today. Fixed brackets sit very close to the wall, which gives it a more modern look. Some fixed brackets have a low profile design; these can have a gap of up to 2 cm between the wall and TV.

Full Motion / Swivel Bracket

These types of brackets give you the most flexibility compared to other TV brackets by being fully adjustable to suit any viewing angle. Some of the features of these mounts include extending, tilting, swivelling, and even rotating your TV in either direction. This is a good option if you want to mount your TV in a corner because of limited space or a smaller room. A full-motion TV bracket is also great if you like to view your TV from multiple seating areas in a room and can also be used to avoid glare as well as give you easier access to the TV’s ports.

Tilt Bracket

Tilt brackets are very similar to fixed or flat brackets; the only difference is having the option of tilting downwards to align with eye level. For example, having your TV mounted above a fireplace would benefit hugely due to the height of the TV.

If your seating position is lower, such as on the sofa, it is important that your eye lines are centred in the middle of the TV when sitting  down. Therefore, you would greatly benefit from being able to tilt the TV down to a comfortable viewing position while maintaining the low-profile modern look of a flat wall mount.

What’s the benefits of wall mounting your TV?

Mounting a TV today has never been easier! Modern TV’s are designed to be wall mounted as they feature mounting holes usually located at the centre back of the TV, otherwise known as VESA patterns. This enables compatibility with most universal TV brackets you can buy on the market today.

The most noticeable thing about having your TV mounted is the extra space that it frees up in your living room or bedroom. This is hugely beneficial if you have a smaller room. Having your TV mounted to the wall also reduces furniture such as a unit or table to hold your TV up on, especially if you are short on space. Therefore,  having your TV higher also gives a better view around the room.

TVs mounted on the wall not only protect your TV but also increase its safety for young children, toddlers, and pets. By not being in reachable contact, this prevents the risk of being knocked over or accidentally pulled off the stand, reducing the risk of injury or damage to the TV.

Full motion/swivel mounts allow flexibility by being able to position your TV to suit any viewing angle as required; this can also help reduce glare from strong sun light.
